BAA given final chance to appeal Stansted sale

Airport operator BAA has been given a final chance to appeal against the forced sale of London Stansted Airport. The Competition Commission has fought a three year long battle with the operator in an attempt to force the sale in order to increase efficiency in the UK aviation sector. BAA has already sold Gatwick Airport and Edinburgh Airports as part of the ongoing tussle with the commission. However, the airports operator was told it could make its case for the final time before the Court of Appeal at the Royal Courts of Justice earlier. BAA will thus appeal against the Competition Appeal Tribunal handed down in February this year. A statement from the airport operator said: “We are pleased that permission to appeal has been granted and look forward to presenting our arguments before the Court of Appeal.”
