London - Arab Today

Air Canada has unveiled the in-flight features of its new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are due to enter service next year. The airline will configure its 251-seat Dreamliners with three cabin classes – business, premium economy and economy – offering a brand new cabin design and seating. New onboard features include pneumatic cushioned headrests, freshly-brewed coffee and touchscreen in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems. “We are very excited to introduce completely redesigned seating and cabin amenities that will offer Air Canada customers the very best in comfort and contemporary design,” said Ben Smith, Air Canada’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “With the arrival next spring of our first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Air Canada continues to renew its international wide-body fleet with the next generation of modern and fuel efficient aircraft.” The business class cabin will feature 20 full flat-bed seats a 1-2-1 configuration offering aisle access for all passengers. The 18-inch (46cm) IFE monitors are said to be the “largest available in business class on any North American carrier”, while all seats have power outlets and USB outlets. Air Canada’s premium economy cabin on the Dreamliner has 21 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, with 38-inches of legroom and 19.5-inch-wide seats, with a seven-inch recline. Each seat is equipped with nine- or 11-inch touchscreen IFE systems, power outlets and USB outlets. Finally, the B787′s economy cabin has 210 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, fitted with 9-inch IFE screens, power outlets and USB ports. Air Canada will take delivery of the first of 37 B787 aircraft in the spring of 2014. The first three aircraft will enter service on domestic and trans-Atlantic routes on a temporary basis, before being fully deployed on the Toronto-Tel Aviv route in July 2014. Source: Travel Daily
