Sharia Park
Abu Dhabi - WAM

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has announced the release of a public tender for developing, investing and managing Sharia Park in Abu Dhabi. The project is part of the municipal system's commitment to upgrade the calibre of service facilities, and raise the bar on the standards of parks and recreational gardens to bring them in line with world-class standards under the overall objective of Abu Dhabi Government to enhance sustainable development projects.

The municipality called on potential bidders amongst specialist national firms and establishments to visit the municipality to obtain the bidding documents as the deadline for submitting bids is Tuesday 29th September 2015.

The development of Sharia Park is a practical manifestation of the municipality's strategy for providing superior recreational and residential facilities in Abu Dhabi in keeping with the policy envisioned in the master development plan of Abu Dhabi Government. This project is a testament to the continuous drive of bolstering public-private partnership, particularly in the field of constructing community-oriented recreational or service facilities matching to the expectations of residents. The ultimate goal of this drive is to deliver stylish services in an optimal environment capable of bringing happiness and serving the welfare of residents, besides injecting the ingredients of sustainable development in the infrastructure of Abu Dhabi.

Through the municipal system, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has upgraded a series of infrastructure and recreational facilities projects highlighted by public parks and gardens in collaboration with the private sector. These projects will be offering services once completed to ensure the offering of multiple recreational options at world-class standards in line with the ambitions of Abu Dhabi and aspirations of residents for prosperity, integrated living experience with abundant modern services.

Sharia Park is located beside Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Highway, E11, between Abu Dhabi and Dubai at the intersection with Al Ajban Street, E16, near Al Rahba city, Abu Dhabi. The project covers fruit trees orchards spanning a total area of 380 thousand square meters.

"Sharia Park will be constructed in collaboration with the private sector where developers will undertake the funding and developing of the project against availing the rights of benefiting from the municipality's land under a Musataha, or land development agreement, entitling the developer to benefit from the project's returns over 32 years. Following that, the ownership of the project will fully devolve back to the municipality.

Upon completion of developments, the park will serve residents of Al Rahba and the neighbourhood in addition to visitors and others transiting between Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates, a number estimated at 85,000 persons. The strategic location of the project has the potential of turning the park into an ideal attraction and meeting point.
