
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with a number of editors-in-chief in the Nile Basin countries and a number of southern African countries.
During the meeting, Sisi welcomed the African journalists and affirmed that ties between Egypt and African countries are crucial, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
He further said that during his inaugural address he underlined that the upcoming phase would witness Egypt's openness toward Africa, added the spokesman.
Egypt's strategy in dealing with African countries is based on cooperation to achieve political stability and economic progress, especially that the continent's nation suffered for several decades and its time to obtain right in stability and prosperity, the spokesman quoted Sisi as saying during the meeting.
The spokesman added that Sisi reviewed the latest developments in Egypt since January 2011 and affirmed that priority is given to preserving the Egyptian state.
Sisi also said that Egypt is moving toward implementing the future roadmap, which will be finalized by holding the parliamentary elections in March, said the spokesman.
Asked about Egypt's reaction toward the killing of 21 Egyptians in Libya by Daesh group, Sisi said that the blood of innocent Egyptians will not go in vein and it is necessary to confront those who justify killing under the name of religion.
He also said that the Egyptian air raid focused only on Daesh targets.
He, meanwhile, said that Egypt always contributes to settling conflicts in the African continent and rejects raising conflicts and divisions.
Talking about the media freedom in Egypt, Sisi affirmed that Egypt respects and appreciates media's role and allows it to work without any constraints.
