Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Sunday with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon a few hours before his departure from Addis Ababa for home after his participation in the African Summit.
Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said the UN chief congratulated Sisi on the election of the Egyptian parliament and praised the role played by Egypt at the Paris-hosted Climate Change Conference.
Sisi, for his part, said the UN is playing a vital role to settle regional disputes and provide aid supplies for the needy peoples.
He also called for more coordination between Egypt and the UN in the coming period, especially after the election of Egypt as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2016-2017.
Sisi started on Friday an official visit to Ethiopia for participation in the two-two African Summit, which kicked off on Saturday.
