
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Wednesday US State Secretary John Kerry in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
During the meeting, Sisi welcomed the US state secretary and underlined the strategic ties binding Egypt and the US, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
Egypt is keen on promoting bilateral cooperation with the US in the various spheres, he added.
He also pointed out to the importance of promoting coordination and cooperation between the two countries in confronting various challenges.
The US is committed to supporting Egypt's stability, Kerry said, adding that Egypt is an important partner for his country, said the spokesman.
The US realizes Egypt's crucial role in the region, which is considered a main pillar for peace and stability, according to Kerry.
Kerry, meanwhile, said that the US is keen on supporting Egypt to overcome its economic and social challenges.
He also underlined the importance of promoting bilateral ties between Egypt and the US along with enhancing coordination with the Egyptian side on the regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The meeting tackled ways of enhancing bilateral ties in the various economic and political spheres, said the spokesman.
It also took up the latest developments in the region, especially the situation in Libya and Syria along with the regional and international efforts in order to reach political solutions which lead to restoring peace and stability.
