Governor inaugurates new Cairo traffic axis

Cairo Governor Galal Said on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of a three-km traffic axis that links Mataria square with Heliopolis.

In statements, the governor said that the new axis passes through three squares that were completely renovated after lifting the the old tramway rods there.

This axis also runs through Mataria, Ain Shams, Zeitoun and Heliopolis districts, and is supposed to completely end the traffic jam there, especially during rush hours, he added.

The governor said that the whole project cost EGP 5 million.

He added that the second phase would be completed within weeks.
