Joseph Moscato, Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta, yesterday met with Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the GCC, to discuss Gulf-Maltese relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields, in addition to GCC-EU relations and ways of developing them under Malta’s Presidency of the UN Council.

During the meeting, which was held in the capital, Valletta, the two sides reviewed political and security developments in the Middle East region and efforts to combat terrorism, along with the refugees issue.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed his thanks and appreciation to Malta’s Government for inviting him, giving him the opportunity to recognise the developmental achievements. He said that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides will open broad prospects for comprehensive cooperation between them and serve common interests.

Dr. Al Zayani congratulated the Maltese Government for taking over the Presidency of the UN Council, wishing it success and praising the Maltese Priorities Programme, which includes immigration, single market, security and social integration issues.
