
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Thursday with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer on the sidelines of his visit to Geneva to participate in the high-level segment of the 34th regular session of the Human Rights Council.
During the meeting, Shoukry voiced Egypt's support for the ICRC in its mission to provide humanitarian aid for victims of armed conflicts, especially in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Palestine.
The Palestinian issue is a top priority for all Arab countries as it affects security of the whole region, the top Egyptian diplomat said.
Maurer, for his part, thanked Egypt for its support of the ICRC and expressed his keenness on boosting cooperation with Egypt to raise awareness about international humanitarian law.
He further praised efforts exerted by Egypt at the UN Security Council to solve the Libyan crisis and criminalize attacks on medical facilities in hot spots.
