
Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Arabi has taken part in the first ministerial meeting of the Indian-Arab Cooperation Forum which is currently in session in Bahrain, a statement by the Arab League general secretariat said Sunday.
The forum is held under the chairmanship of Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Khalifa and in the presence of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and foreign ministers of the Arab countries.
The meeting is the outcome of the development of Indian-Arab relations and is held upon an amended document on Indian-Arab cooperation that was signed by the secretary general during his visit to New Delhi in 2013.
The meeting comes in view of the historic relations binding Arab countries with India and the efforts exerted to coordinate stances to establish renewable partnership for dialogue and collective cooperation between the Arab countries and India.
Addressing the meeting, Arabi reviewed the latest developments of the Palestinian issue and the Israeli intransigence regarding peace talks.
He also probed the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen as well s the challenges facing the Arab region in view of the heightened phenomenon of terrorism.
