London - Arabstoday

Don’t miss out on the chance to visit the exhibition Twice a Stranger which narrates the story of the greatest forced migration and population exchanges of the 20th century. The exhibition will be hosted at the Benaki Museum from September 19, 2012 until November 25, 2012. "Twice a Stranger" is a cross-media project about the greatest forced migrations of the 20th century where millions of people were uprooted and moved to new homelands. From the Greek-Turkish exchange in 1923, Twice a Stranger ‘travels’ to the German-Polish forced migration at the end of World War II, to the partition of India and to Cyprus in 1974. Based on oral video testimonies, rare film archives and photos this project brings visitors face-to-face with the survivors of these traumatic events. This project has already been presented in Istanbul and Nicosia. The exhibition is accompanied by various events such as educational programmes, documentary screenings and storytelling for children.
