Theatre actors in Syria have launched a massive campaign demanding the release of Syrian actor Zaki Kordelo. The actor was arrested by Syrian forces and has been detained for over six months. The campaign was launched to coincide with World Theatre Day, in the hope that more attention will be drawn to the plight of Kordelo. Police raided the home of the actor in November 2012 in the Syrian capital, Damascus, also arresting his son Mehyar, and relative Adel Barazi. It is reported that they were taken to an unknown destination. A graduate of the High Institute of Dramatic Art in Syria, Kordelo has played many roles in film and television before introducing over 20 works to the Shadow Theatre
