State keen on developing preachers' anti-extremism role

The state is giving special attention to imams and preachers so they can undertake their role in correcting religious misconceptions and fighting terrorist thoughts, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Moktar Gomaa said.
Addressing the second forum of young imams and preachers organized by the ministry on Sunday, Gomaa said the preachers have a very important role in developing the society culturally.
Concerted efforts are needed to combat terrorism and extremist groups while spreading the modesty of Islam, he added.
