Societal participation in drawing out Egypt's cultural policy urged

Egypt's culture minister underlined on Wednesday the importance of having the entire society take part in drawing out the country's cultural policy.
Dr Gaber Asfour made the remarks during two meetings with members of the Supreme Council of Culture led by Mohamed Afifi.
The meetings tackled a paper submitted by the council members on their vision for Egypt's cultural strategy within the coming period.
Asfour suggested that the paper would be printed in a booklet and distributed by the cultural palaces, unions and parties so that all Egyptians would be involved in drafting the country's cultural policy.
A number of suggestions to address illiteracy in Egypt were also floated during the two meetings.
