
His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award launched Wednesday the English version of "Shift Il-Kuwait IV" competition in a bid to spread informatics awareness at a global level. Sheikha Aida Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Award, said she was happy the launch of Shift Il-Kuwait IV competition coincided with national days of Kuwait. She said Shift Il-Kuwait competition was first launched in 2010 with the objective of achieving informatics awareness, and the Board of Trustees believed it was important to launch the competition in the English language this year. Sheikha Aida invited everybody to participate in the competition which was focusing on information security. Saleh Al-Asousi, member of the Board of Trustees and the organizing committee, said the English version of the competition would further promote the status of Kuwait in the informatics field. Bassam Al-Shammari, member of the organizing committee, said launching the English version of the Shift Il-Kuwait was based on the huge success of the competition over the past three years. He said the competition attracted thousands of participants from 50 countries around the globe last year. This year, he added, English speakers could benefit from His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award's awareness campaigns. Sara Al-Dosari, coordinator of Shift Il-Kuwait team, said the competition aimed at highlighting the common mistakes committed by users of new technologies thus the selection of information security as the theme this year
