Senior Communist Party of China official Liu Yunshan visited the China Science and Technology Museum on Saturday to mark this year's "day for science".
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, watched a robot show in the museum and praised the achievements China has made in the development of intelligent machines.
He then visited display zones for drones, cloud technology and intelligent kitchens. "Science changes lives," he exclaimed.
The official joined children doing experiments in the museum and encouraged them to think more and actively participate in scientific innovation.
He also watched staff demonstrate 3D printing and wireless charging.
At a video chat zone, Liu had a talk with participants in Xinjiang, Sichuan and Shanghai.
More effort is needed to promote scientific innovation and create a sound environment that encourages innovation, Liu said.
