
The second national Bahrain Skills Competition will be held in October, 2014, Minister of Education Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi has announced.
He said that participants could send their application for the second Bahrain Skills Competition whose winners could qualify for the World Skills International Competitions- 2015 to be held at Sao Paulo, Brazil, noting that the first edition, held at the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Institute for Technology in 2012, with the participation of over 88 competitors and 66 experts, was very successful.
He added that the SkillsBahrain team had launched new eight skills, along with the eight basic ones, in order to provide more training and rehabilitation opportunities for more than 320 contesters and 128 experts, in cooperation with Tamkeen.
He said that students with special needs would be allowed to participate in some competitions, which is a precedent at the GCC level.
Participants from universities, academic and training institutes, public and private companies, NGOs, public and private schools can take part in the second Bahrain Skills Competition.

It is to be noted that the second edition will be held following the success of the SkillsBahrain team in clinching the first position at the third GCC Skills Competition, hosted by the kingdom under the patronage of the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The cabinet had also endorsed the kingdom’s joining of the WorldSkills International.
