
Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud patronized on Sunday a ceremony of winners of the 2014 King Faisal International Prize (KFIP). The prize, which included USD 200,000 award and a 24 karat/200 grams gold medal, was awarded to five winners of various nationalities in a ceremony that was held in presence of Nigerian Vice President Namadi Sambo, as well as a number of princes, ministers, senior officials, and international figures. The winners were Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Lemu of Nigeria, Service to Islam Prize category, Professor Abdulwahab Abou Sulaiman of Saudi Arabia, Islamic Studies Prize category, Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim of Iraq, Arabic Language and Literature Prize category, Professor Yuk Ming Dennis Lo of China/UK, Medicine Prize, and Professor Gerd Faltings of Germany, Science Prize. The King Faisal International Prize was launched in 1979 and sponsored by King Faisal Foundation (KFF). It is an annual award presented to dedicated men and women whose contributions make a positive difference. The prizes are granted for service to Islam, Islamic studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Science and Medicine. (
