Beijing - Xinhua
Sancai artworks at a museum in Luoyang City of central China's Henan Province. Sancai, also known as tri-color glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), is a type of ceramics using three intermingled colors of decorations. Cherished by tourists from China and abroad, making replicas of Sancai had the potential to become a unique cultural industry. In the expanding period of the industry, the market was filled with replicas of poor quality, which could not be sold at a decent price.  The vicious cycle in the market almost ruined the whole business. Until recent years, folk craftsmen and successors of Intangible Cultural Heritage decided to set up quality standards for the business and put enormous efforts into renaissance of making Sancai. After two decades of years, the craft of making replicas has advanced greatly, combining traditional methods with modern technologies.
