Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea plans to write a tell-all memoir. The musician, born Michael Balzary, will write the book himself. The memoir will follow Flea from his "bohemian" childhood to the "tumultuous creative journey" of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Rock-and-roll, drugs, and his "sometimes complex friendship and collaboration" with bandmate Anthony Kiedis are just some of the topics the author plans to touch upon. "I love literature deeply," Flea says in a press release. "I view books as sacred things, and in writing my story, I'm going to do my best to honor the form that has played such a huge part in shaping who I am." Grand Central Publishing, a division of the Hachette Book Group, will distribute the currently untitled book. "Grand Central is thrilled to publish Flea's memoir," executive editor Ben Greenberg says. "Besides being a voracious reader, he is an utterly unique musician, thinker, and creative force... His story is epic." No publication date has been set yet for the memoir.
