Rafah’s tribesmen are organising a poetry night on February 15 in Nag-Shibana, in solidarity with recent land disputes between Bedouin tribes and the Egyptian government. Many of Sinai’s poets will attend the event, including Ibrahim Deif-Allah, Salma Igmeian and Atta-Allah el-Gedawy. Deif-Allah told Arabstoday the night would express a growing resentment over the Egyptian government’s decisions to freeze private property rights in the Sinai. Event organisers will provide poets with tribal shields in appreciation of their attendance.
