
Ministers of Higher Education Sayed Abdel Khalik and Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty laid on Saturday the foundation stone of the Egyptian center for heritage and archaeological studies in Luxor.
Luxor gGovernor Tareq Saadeddin and President of Cairo University Jaber Nassar attended the event.
The center, which will be run by the Faculty of Antiquities of Cairo University, would play a significant role as a cultural beacon in Egypt, Abdel Khalik said.
The new project will be finalized within the coming two years, Nassar said, adding that it would be established on an area of 2,500 square meters with a total cost of EGP 30 million.
