Middle East evangelical churches annual conference in Cairo kicks off

The Association of Evangelical Churches of the Middle East kicked off its 40th annual meeting in Cairo Wednesday with participation of Egyptian, Arab and international branches.
"Egypt is now one of the safest countries in the region," head of the association Pastor Andre Zaki said in the opening speech.
Christians in the Middle East share the same fate with Muslims, Zaki added, asserting, the co-existence must rely on the principles of citizenship.
Delegations from all evangelical charges in Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Gulf states will participate in the three-day event.
The conference addresses the role played by Christians in the Middle East to preserve Arab identify and social peace, he added.
