Kuwait's Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) took part in the fifth annual World Maker Faire, which opened earlier on Saturday.
The two-day Disney-sponsored Maker Faire kicked off today at New York Hall of Science in Queens with the participation of Kuwaiti engineers Nasser Al-Khaldi and Ahmad Al-Saleh along with more than 700 makers exhibiting on the same ground.
"With His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's support and leadership, we were able to be part of this worldwide gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors to share what we have made and learned," Al-Khaldi told KUNA.
Both inventors expressed happiness and pride to be showcasing their invention 'Snowball', and to be the first Gulf country to take part in such faire. "It is a visual programming for Ardunio that enables individuals of any age and with no electronic or programming background to make robots, prototypes and electronic applications in few minutes," he noted.
On his part, Al-Saleh told KUNA that many fellow exhibitors as well as visitors of all demographics were amazed of this "educational technology presented by Kuwait.
"Many companies have approached us, yet we are not looking for commercial purposes," he said.
Being part of such exhibition confirms the effectiveness of "our" invention, especially that many visitors were able to try using it on site, he added.
The E-robot program has been applied and presented as an activity in Spain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain, he said.
The Kuwaiti participants extended their thanks to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, SACGC, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ministry of Education, and Public Authority for Youth and Sport for their support and cooperation.
The Maker Faire is divided into zones; Do It Yourself, Electronics, Robots, Fly, Live Stage and Education, as well as kids science playground.
'The Greatest Show and Tell' is not just for the novel in technical fields, but features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft.
