John Stamos criticises blog claiming 'Full House,' 'Friends' teach lies

John Stamos wrote a heartfelt Facebook post Sunday defending Full House and other sitcoms from a blogger who said the shows were "dumb" and taught lies. Stamos' message was addressed to Annelia Alex, an Academic archaeologist and social blogger who wrote a piece for the Huffington Post titled "The Lies I Learned From Dumb TV." In her essay, Alex claims shows like Friends, Full House, Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place and others "distorted [her] expectations for reality." Alex focused her essay on three main alleged lies: "When you get upset and flee a situation, someone chases after you." "You can work as a coffee shop waitress or struggling writer and afford a 1,100 sq. foot apartment in Manhattan." "You will be friends and ultimately more-than-friends with the attractive person in the apartment across the hall." In his response, Stamos tells Alex not to "blame the way [her] life turned out" on the shows she watched growing up. "I agree we did some silly unrealistic stuff and maybe it's not the way everyday families are today," Stamos wrote. "Although more so now then when we made the show. Meaning, more broken families, same sex parents. Let's focus on that and not the unrealistic stuff, because [of] the happiness that these shows have brought to peoples lives." Stamos also encouraged the writer to raise her kids on Breaking Bad re-runs and "see how that turns out" and said he was sorry she wasn't "bright enough to take the good from what we did and laugh at the rest." Alex responded to the actor's post, claiming she was surprised with his reaction and dissing him for his comments. "I didn't know that John Stamos was still a media presence," she wrote in her response piece. "I called my mom and she informed me, 'Oh yes. He does Greek yogurt commercials [Dannon] now, which makes sense because he is Greek and handsome.'"
