In a bold step to stress Palestinian sovereignty, the government in Gaza has issued a new set of Palestinian postage stamps. According to the government, the stamps have been issued to "mark the victory of Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation." Hamas leaders celebrated the issue of the new stamps in the house of assassinated leader, Ahmed Jabari. The latter was killed on November 14 2012 in an Israeli air strike as he drove through Gaza City. The new stamps will bear the map of Palestine as well as a picture of Jabari. Gaza’s Deputy Prime Minister Ziad al-Zaza explained that the stamps aim to reveal "the crimes committed against Palestinians by Israeli forces."
