Jesse Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave are to star in the world premiere of Eisenberg's play "The Revisionist" off-Broadway, producers said. The announcement was made Thursday by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long. The play, directed by Kip Fagan, will begin its limited run Feb. 6. It will officially open Feb. 21 at the Cherry Lane Theatre in downtown Manhattan. "The Revisionist" is scheduled to play through March 31. The drama follows Eisenberg's character David as he arrives in Poland "with a crippling case of writer's block and a desire to be left alone," a synopsis said. "His 75-year-old second cousin Maria [played by Redgrave] welcomes him with a fervent need to connect with her distant American family. As their tenuous relationship develops, she reveals details about her complicated post-war past that tests their ideas of what it means to be a family." Eisenberg most recently wrote and starred in Rattlestick's "Asuncion" at the Cherry Lane Theatre. He also has appeared in the films "The Social Network," "Zombieland," "Adventureland," "The Squid and the Whale" and "Roger Dodger." Redgrave was last seen on Broadway in the 2010-11 season with James Earl Jones and Boyd Gaines in "Driving Miss Daisy." Her film credits include "Coriolanus," "Letters to Juliet," "Morgan," "A Man for All Seasons," "Isadora," "Mary, Queen of Scots," "Murder on the Orient Express," "The Bostonians," "Prick Up Your Ears," "Howards End," "Mission: Impossible" and "Julia."
