The director of Egypt's the Theatre Art House, Maher Selim will open showings of his new play at state theatres this week. El-Mahrous wel Mahrousa, which is written by Abul Ela el-Salamoni and directed by Shadi Surour, will show at Miami Theatre, At al-Ghad Theatre, playwright Ibrahim el-Hossini, who has recently won a Sawiris Cultural Awards gong, will show his new play Zenzana Lekol Mowaten [Each Citizen Shall Have His Cell], directed by Mahmoud el-Nokali. “The reopening of the two theatres”, Selim said, “comes after a forced hiatus caused by the eruption of violence and added that the theatre body insists on being present and on playing its cultural role despite the challenges.”
