Turkey's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu held formal talks in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. Davutoglu headed toGeorgia at the invitation of Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze. During his talks in Georgia, Davutoglu firstly came together with Turkish businessmen who hold facilities in the country. Later on, Turkish foreign minister visited the "War Heroes Monument" and laid wreath in the memory of Georgian soldiers who lost their lives. Davutoglu came together with his Georgian counterpart Panjikidze on the first day of hisvisit and in the evening, he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili at the Prime Ministry's residence. Within the scope of his visit, Davutoglu is also expected to hold meetings with State Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili and Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili. Davutoglu who will be attending the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan andGeorgia in Batumi on Thursday, and moreover, he is expected to come together with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov. In the framework of his Georgia meetings, opportunities for further enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation with Georgia which is among Turkey's important partners in the region, as well as regional and international developments are planned to be taken up, said Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement. Furthermore, the statement noted, the Trilateral Meetings of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia, convened for the first time in Trabzon on June 8, 2012, contribute to the development of a sense of cooperation in all fields on the basis of mutual benefit and to the strengthening of regional stability and security through the discussion of bilateral and regional issues around a table.
