Muscat - Arabstoday
An art exhibition featuring the works of resident artists Tania Hens and Sunita Rajvanshi opens at the InterContinental Muscat tomorrow at 7.30 pm. The four-day display, entitled ‘Celebration of Colours’, will be jointly inaugurated by Shaikh Hamed bin Hilal al Maamari, Cultural Affairs Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, and Ambassador Ronald Mollinger, MEDRC Centre Director. Part of the proceeds will go towards The Para Equestrian and Therapeutic Riding Activities (Petra Oman). The opening will also feature live piano and flute performances. Both accomplished artists, Tania and Sunita have been greatly influenced in their work by Oman’s natural and cultural beauty, as well as the country’s Arabian appeal. Tania has been drawing and painting since she was three years old. After a career as a geologist living in various countries around the world, she devoted herself again to painting in 1999, being inspired by the bright light, the people and culture of Oman. For four years Tania and her husband explored the oceans, Europe and the Caribbean by sailboat, being immersed in nature. She loves exploring new ways of creating art and exhibitions in Oman, Dubai and Panama. She enjoys leading workshops, inspiring people to express themselves and experience the creative process. Sunita Rajvanshi’s passion for art started in early childhood. Her relocation to Oman three years ago rekindled her passion and now she is using it to reach out and help the less privileged across the world. She already did two exhibitions in Muscat for charitable causes. She also worked as AWG art co-ordinator for three years and has been teaching “Mixed Media Techniques in Collage” at the PDO art centre since 2009. Sunita runs a charitable organisation called Second Chance Charitable Society in India to help the needy. She is experimenting with different textured backgrounds with Acrylics and is planning to write a book about this. The exhibition is also open on April 24, 25 and 26 from 9 am to 1 pm and 2 to 9 pm. The event is sponsored by Intercontinental Muscat, Mazaya, Mazoon Printing, Al Qurum Veterinary Clinic, Air France-KLM and Flora Kiss Graphic Design.
