Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton has won the 2013 Archibald Prize, the country's most prestigious portraiture award, for her portrait of actor Hugo Weaving, the Art Gallery of New South Wales (NSW) announced on Friday. The Art Gallery of NSW said there were 868 entries for the 92nd year of the Archibald Prized this year. Barton has won the important annual portrait prize of 75,000 AU dollars (78,200 U.S. dollars) after beating 38 other finalists. This is the second time that Barton has won the award.
