Swiss artist David Weiss, one half of creative team Fischli/Weiss, has died of cancer, his gallery said. He was 66. Weiss had been receiving treatment for cancer since September, Art in America magazine reported Friday. "It was more advanced than anyone realized," Matthew Marks gallery director Stephanie Dorsey said. As part of artist duo Fischli/Weiss, he collaborated on films, photos, slide projections, sculptures and artists books, the magazine said. The couple was known for incorporating everyday found objects into their works, such as foodstuffs, magazine ads and furniture. Most recently Fischli/Weiss had three simultaneous exhibits at Matthew Marks' Chelsea galleries incorporating an installation of more than 800 magazine advertisements.
