Archaeologists want full portfolio for antiquities in Egypt

Archaeologists' Syndicate has called on interim President Adly Mansour not to merge the ministry of state for antiquities into any other ministry and to grant it a full portfolio.In a statement on Monday, the syndicate called for placing the antiquities on the state's top priorities, considering them a national security issue.Rescuing the sector from all threats it had been facing since 2011 is a top priority, according to the statement.The syndicate also demanded that a presidential decree to establish a full portfolio for antiquities instead of a ministry of state.
