Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el Damaty has visited the Pyramids area to inspect the security situation there.

A host of Japanese media agencies accompanied the minister during the visit.

Damaty said that the Pyramids area receives a host of tourists of various nationalities on a daily basis, said the media center of the Pyramids area.

He also sent a reassuring message to the Japanese tourist, especially after the number of tourist arrivals from Japan increased following the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his spouse to Cairo and the Pyramids area.

The minister, meanwhile, invited tourists, especially the Japanese, to visit archaeological areas in Egypt.
