Emirates Fine Arts Society
Sharjah - WAM

The events of the 34th Annual Exhibition of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, EFAS, will launch on January 13th, 2016, under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The exhibition, entitled, 'Noah's Ark', will take place at the Sharjah Art Museum and at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, and will feature 42 artists with the participation of 10 young artists for the first time from both the UAE and around the world. The exhibition stems from the symbolism surrounding the story of Noah (PBUH), a big chapter in the history of humanity as the ark contained all life on the planet, proving the unity of creatures of all kinds.

'Noah's Ark' will put forward an intellectual visual narrative, one that is both symbolic and epic, pointing out the coming together of not only all races, cultures and religions, but also all creatures, from animals and plants to inanimate objects, all in one place: the Earth as a whole, which the UAE specifically represents as a complete model, one that is an extension of other models in the history of human experience, due to its unique role as a country that allows for the coexistence of over 200 nationalities from all over the world.

34 artworks showcased will be by local and residence artists, 27 will be displayed at the Sharjah Art Museum, and 7 will be displayed at the Cultural District at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi. This year's exhibition includes a display of the experiments of three Bahraini artists who represent three different generations, under the name, 'The Bahraini Experiment'.

Nasser Abdulla, Chairman of EFAS, said, "EFAS, since its inception, has aimed to raise the level of fine arts and introduce the audience to its importance and that of this creative, artistic world, which demands a highly sophisticated visual taste. Through the current exhibition, we have, for the first time, displayed the participating artwork in two locations: the contemporary Arts wing at the Sharjah Art Museum and Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This new step hopes to support EFAS's goals that aim to improve its role in promoting the cultural movement in the country."
