At its fifth edition, the Beijing Biennale, held at the Chinese National Museum, a large number of international artists from around 85 countries were invited to take part. Dubbed 'The Future and Reality', the Biennale presents a blend between contemporary and older art forms. Egyptian artist Kawsar Sharif explains: "The Biennale this year looks into the aspirations of the future of mankind in terms of the natural disasters that threaten our survival... There will also be a competition for the best work discussing this idea." According to MENA, Sharif is among the Egyptians participating in this year's Biennale are distinguished young artists who represent different trends of modern art, including Hanan El-Sheikh, Mina Nasr, Samar Badri, Mohammed El-Masri, Mohammed Bassiouni, and Karim El-Qereti.
