US natural gas supplies fell last week

U.S. natural gas supplies fell more than expected last week, the Energy Department reported Thursday. The Energy Information Administration of the Energy Department said that natural gas in storage decreased by 145 billion cubic-feet to 1.938 trillion cubic-feet for the week ending on March 8. Analysts expected a fall of 133 billion to 137 billion cubic-feet. The inventory level was 11.4 percent above the five-year average of 1.740 trillion cubic-feet, and 18.5 percent below last year's level of 2.378 trillion cubic-feet, according to the government data.
