Icelandic central bank raises key rate 0.25 points to 5.0%

Iceland's central bank raised its interest rates by a quarter point on Wednesday, taking its benchmark rate to 5.0 percent, the bank said in a statement. The bank explained that the Icelandic "krona is weaker than in February ... and the short-term inflation outlook has deteriorated somewhat... Further ahead, there is the risk that inflation will remain above the Bank's inflation target for a longer period than projected unless the krona appreciates in coming months."
