
Egypt has not asked for any assistance programs from the International Monetary Fund as the government has a special program on economic reform that is applying gradually, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Tareq Amer said.
Speaking to MENA, Amer said figures published by some news reports about an Egyptian request for loans from the IMF are totally incorrect.
According to the news reports, Egyptian officials said that Egypt had asked for a five-billion-dollar loan from the IMF.
If Egypt wants a loan, it has the right to ask for a figure double the one mentioned in the reports due to its share at the fund, he said
