China to cut interest rates amid growth slowdown

China will cut interest rates from Friday, the central bank said, for the first time since 2008 amid growing concerns over a growth slowdown in the world's second largest economy. The People's Bank of China will cut the benchmark one-year lending rate by 0.25 percentage points while the one-year deposit rate will fall by the same amount, according to a statement on its website.
