Logitech Z515 speaker

Portable music has come a long way since the battery-powered boom boxes of the last century. We have, since then, burned through various technologies to reach a place where most of us do, or have the ability to, carry our entire music collection with us. The Logitech Z515 promises to let you listen to that collection everywhere, out loud. Many may mistake these for a speaker set only for your laptop, but these are much more than that. In addition to connecting them to your laptop via a USB transmitter, you can also play music on the Z515 by using a standard 3.5mm audio cable or connecting to it via Bluetooth. The USB transmitter set-up is a painless affair. On a Windows 7 machine, just plugging in the transmitter was enough to start having the music play from the Z515 speakers instead of the laptop speakers. No drivers, no set-up, nada. The range of the speakers is one of its greatest strengths; I was able to go through two doors and further before I started losing signal. Similarly, the 3.5mm sound cable and the Bluetooth set-up were effortless too. The range on the Bluetooth connectivity was slightly shorter, though, but not by a lot. The quality of sound is better than what you would get on most laptop speakers but it won't match up to those of desktop speakers. Then again, it isn't meant to, either. There is a distinct bass, giving the sound a level of depth unlike the flat sound found on most laptop speakers. The sound does get slightly scratchy on a higher volume. You'll probably only notice it if you keep an ear out for it though. With the power adaptor you can charge it right up for a few hours and you're good to go again for a few days. There isn't a whole lot more to these, which is a good thing. With a decent sound quality and multiple connectivity options, the Logitech Z515 is an excellent set of speakers that will fit into many situations. Whether it's something you want to keep on your desk in the office or carry with you on picnic or, maybe move your music to a different part of your home temporarily, the Logitech Z515 is a good set of portable speakers that won't let you down.
