Verizon Wireless to offer phone video plan

Verizon Wireless says it could have the beginnings of a wireless video network in place by the holidays and is beginning negotiations with content providers. Content appropriate for mobile devices will be one of the areas discussed, Verizon Chief Executive Officer Lowell McAdam said. "Most content providers realize that the number of channels and the layout that you have within your home may not be appropriate for the mobile environment, and those discussions are just beginning now," McAdam told The Wall Street Journal. Verizon is seeking Federal Communications Commission approval for about $3.6 billion in spectrum license purchases it announced in February, PC Magazine reported. Other carriers, including Sprint and T-Mobile, already offer video services. T-Mobile TV offers two tiers of TV service priced at either $4.99 per month or $9.99 per month, that allow customers to access prerecorded and live video that can be streamed to the phone. Some mobile device makers, such as HTC, have included their own video streaming services.
