UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa prize laureates announced

Two digital projects from Germany and South Korea have today been declared winners of the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. “The 2011 laureates are Germany’s Internet ABC Project and South Korea’s InfollutionZERO”, Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi said. UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education promotes the theme “‘Educating youth for responsible global digital citizenship’. The UNESCO and the Ministry of Education will host a special ceremony to present the award, which was initiated by His Majesty the King six years ago in support of efforts aimed at promoting education globally through the use of Information and Communication Technologies. UNESCO director-general Irina Bokova selected the 2011 laureates, taking into account the recommendations of an international arbitration jury, which assessed 51 entrants from 39 countries.
