Ukraine has conducted the tests of a new antitank missile system “Corsar” at a firing range near Kiev, Luch State Design Bureau chief designer Oleg Korostelev said on Thursday. The Corsar system “is aimed at firing immobile and mobile armoured targets with any type of armour - tanks, armoured vehicles, high-speed assault boats, as well as small targets - blockhouses, helicopters and unmanned aircraft”, Korostelev said. “The shooting range is of up to 2,5 kilometres, i.e. it is twice more than light anti-tank weapons have. Guided missiles work by following the reflected light of a laser beam. The missile is fired from a shoulder. Its capacity is needed to destroy all existing types of armoured vehicles. The price of the Corsar system is thrice as less than foreign competitors: it costs about 130,000 dollars,” the Luch chief designer said.
