
Iranian and Turkish officials in a meeting in Ankara underlined the necessity for the further promotion of scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries. The issue was raised in a meeting between Iran’s Ambassador to Turkey Alireza Bigdeli and Turkish National Education Minister Nabi Avci. Bigdeli, for his part, called for more scientific, educational, cultural, and art cooperation with Turkey, and underlined the importance of education in mutual ties between Iran and Turkey. He added that the two countries with interaction and close cooperation in educational, scientific and research issues can create high scientific capacities in the Islamic world. During the meeting, Avci pointed to the influence of Persian language and literature in Turkey and interest of the Turkish youth in getting acquainted with the Persian literature, and stressed strengthening of Persian language departments in Turkey and Turkish language departments in Iran. Iran and Turkey have increased their cooperation in various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture in recent years. The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.
