St Louis - UPI
A cellphone stolen a week before a former St. Louis University volleyball player was slain in St. Louis led to the arrest of two 18-year-old men, police said. The suspects were to be arraigned in the death of Megan Boken, 23, of Wheaton, Ill., the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday. Boken was killed en route to an alumni game during an apparent robbery Saturday, investigators said. Looking for clues among street robberies, detectives examined records of a cellphone stolen Aug. 10 during an armed robbery. A woman whose phone number frequently came up on the cellphone's records after Boken's slaying said her boyfriend told her he was involved in Boken's death, the newspaper said. Police Chief Dan Isom said in a news conference Thursday he was confident the captured men were responsible for Boken's death and credited "good detective work" for breaking the case.
