Car rental giant Sixt has now launched an app for the Windows Phone 7 smartphone allowing customers to reserve Sixt cars in 105 countries around the world. The app’s features have been completely revised so that the booking process is now simpler and faster, and the smartphone program is available for download at Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace. Sixt’s new app does a lot more than just help you reserve a car. For example, its station locator shows how far away the nearest Sixt station is and also features a placename-based search option. When the app finds a Sixt station, it displays its location, address and opening hours and also displays a map with the best route to the station. Customers can also use the app to access their personal Sixt profile or company account and so manage existing reservations. Users can also use the new app to rent a car via QR code. When users finish booking a car, the system sends a QR code straight to their smartphones, and when they want to pick up their car, all they have to do is present this code for scanning at the station. This does away with the need for all the paperwork and fuss normally entailed in hiring a car, so it only takes a moment before Sixt customers who use our QR code booking system have the keys to their car in their hand. The new app is available in German, English, French and Spanish. Sixt was recognised for the World’s Leading Marketing Innovation by the World Travel Awards in 2011.
