South Korea's Samsung Electronics says it is preparing an 85-inch Ultra HD television to be introduced at the 2013 CES technology trade show in Las Vegas. Under official CEA specifications, for a television to be advertised as Ultra HD it must have at least 8 million active pixels with a resolution of 3840 X 2160 and a screen aspect ratio of 16:9. Samsung has not released the technical specifications of its upcoming device other than to confirm an 85-inch screen, LED backlighting and what Samsung calls "powerful and dynamic" integrated audio, TG Daily reported Tuesday. It will also feature "enhanced dimming technology and a very high-contrast ratio," the company said. Samsung has also not discussed availability or pricing, although similar-sized televisions from other manufacturers such as Sony and LG are normally priced between $20,000 and $25,000.
