
One of the largest arms shows in Southeast Asia “Defence and Security 2013” opened in Thailand on Monday. A delegation from Russia is participating in the arms show. The organizers of the arms show told Itar-Tass that this year the arms show has brought together more than 270 leading world producers in the sphere of defence and security. As many as 36 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, China, the United States, Britain, France and Germany presented their military produce at the arms show. Thai Prime Minister Yinglak Chinnawat, who is also the defence minister of the country, opened the arms show on Monday. The Russian exposition has a separate stand. The Russian arms exporting company Rosoboronexport reported that the visitors are expected to show a keen interest in the frigate Gepard 3.9 (cheetah), submarine Amur-1650, over the horizon ground-wave radar Podsolnukh-E, training airplanes Yak-130 and multipurpose helicopters, armoured personnel carriers BTR-80A, the police model of the armoured vehicle Tigr and different modifications of armoured infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3.
