There's increasing evidence Apple will in fact add the much-rumored gold-color option to its iPhone lineup, tech websites are reporting. Citing "sources in position to know," several Apple-watching sites said Monday the new color option will be an "elegant" gold tone, described as "champagne-like," PC Magazine reported. "Gold is among the easiest colors to anodize onto an iPhone," Rene Ritchie of the iMore site said, especially when compared to the already available black, which is difficult and time-consuming to apply. In some markets, particularly Asia, gold is one of the most popular aftermarket color-treatment options, so a gold iPhone "could simply be the decision to offer supply where there's demand" Ritchie said. The gold tone will reportedly cover the back and sides of the phone while the faceplate will be white. For final confirmation Apple watchers will have to wait until Sept. 10, when the company is expected to unveil its new line of iPhone offerings.
